You can always count on a new Mazda car to give you a fun and smile-inducing ride. And, in addition to their outstanding agility, they are also built to be safe. The company is one of the most awarded carmakers when it comes to passenger protection, and Lester Glenn Mazda explains how its models have the hardware to prove it.
Top Marks from the IIHS
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is an organization that evaluates all new models to see how well they safeguard passengers in the event of an accident. The best mark a car can get is TOP SAFETY PICK+, and this means that it needs to get a “Good” rating in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front and side tests. It also requires an “Acceptable” or “Good” in the headlights category, as well as a “Good” with the standard front crash prevention systems for both vehicles and pedestrians.
MAZDA Model Milestones
Mazda – and the people that use their vehicles – have reason to celebrate, as the 2026 Mazda CX-5 recently earned a TOP SAFETY PICK+ award. But that’s not all. Mazda has received more than any other car brand this year. In addition, when the 2026 Mazda CX-5 got the top designation, it marked the 100th award the brand has received since 2008. Other models that have IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK + awards include:
- 2026 MAZDA3 Sedan
- 2026 MAZDA CX-30
- 2026 MAZDA CX-50
Those are just a few of the many Mazda models that have earned this prestigious distinction.
