The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is an all-new vehicle from top to bottom, from the sheet metal that makes up the stylish and sleek exterior to the comfortable and well-stocked cabin. It comes powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder SKYACTIV-G® engine that generates 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. It comes paired to a six-speed automatic transmission that gets a revised calibration that makes for crisper departures from an idling position.
Both front-wheel and all-wheel drive models are available in three trim levels: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. Whether you’re looking at the entry-level Sport or the top-of-the-line 2017 Mazda CX-5, you’ll be getting a crossover that offers a cabin that’s a cut above the rest with its upscale, near-luxury feeling and vibe. New goodies include adaptive headlights, lane departure warning, a power liftgate, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams are standard on the Grand Touring and optional on Touring models.
The cabin is also equipped with a number of features and materials that help make for a quieter and smoother ride. The steering wheel is designed with slimmer spokes in order to make it easier to grasp, while the front roof pillars have been shifted nearly an inch and a half to help increase outward visibility. The backseats are less upright and recline, and the rear doors open wider to make access easier.
