The five-door 2017 Mazda3 Hatchback is offered in four different trim levels: Sport, Touring, Touring 2.5, and Grand Touring. Drivers have the option of one of two powertrains. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque that comes paired to either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic with the base powertrain. Touring 2.5 and Grand Touring models get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. It also comes paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
Not only does the 2017 Mazda3 Hatchback feature impressive performance, it also earned top ratings in safety tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named a 2017 Top Safety Pick+ after it earned the top rating of Good in all five of its crash tests as well as a Superior rating in front crash prevention and crash avoidance technologies. It also earned the second-highest rating in the new Headlight test. The NHTSA awarded it a perfect 5-Star Overall rating as well.
